Payless puts its headquarters up for sale
06/12/2017
Local media reports have said it has set an asking price of $8.5 million for the building.
In November, Payless laid off 170 employees, following on from the loss of 165 jobs at the start of 2017. The move to sell its US headquarters has sparked fears that the company plans to pull out of the Topeka area entirely, putting more jobs at risk.
The company exited chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in August after receiving court approval for a reorganisation plan which included the immediate closure of nearly 700 stores.
