Northampton schoolgirl triumphs in BFA’s birthday competition
An eight-year old girl from Northampton has been selected from 400 schoolchildren for designing the best ‘birthday shoe’ to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the British Footwear Association.

Demetria Jolley’s prize included a pair of shoes made to her Union Jack design by Northampton men’s brand Church’s.

Demetria said: “I am so proud of my shoes and can’t wait to see them and put them on, it’s just brilliant.”

The association marked the milestone at Northampton’s Delapre  Abbey with display of some of the country’s most renowned manufacturers: Church’s, Cheaney, Sanders & Sanders, Trickers, Loake, NPS, Crockett & Jones, Dr Marten, Barkers, Loake and Grenson.

William Church, joint managing director of Cheaney Shoes and a BFA board member, said: “Northamptonshire made footwear is held in high regard the world over and this showcase press event of exquisite footwear is a great start to the BFA’s 120th anniversary celebrations.”
