The CICEG footwear industry association in the Mexican state of Guanajuato re-elected Luis Gerardo González as its president at its annual general assembly at the end of February.

He will hold the office for the period 2019-2020. This will be his third term, having taken over from Javier Plascencia Reyes in 2017. 

Following his unanimous re-election, Mr Gerardo González said he will face two significant challenges over the next year: job creation and improving the productivity of the sector. He expressed optimism, however, that the region’s footwear industry could take on competition from overseas.
