Business boost for Brazilian brands at Micam

Brazil’s main footwear industry association, Abicalçados, has said member companies that attended the Micam exhibition in Milan in mid-September generated an immediate combined total of $12 million worth of business at the show. The organisation said this was the equivalent of selling more than 750,000 pairs of shoes at the event.

In all, 65 Brazilian footwear brands took part, supported by export promotions agency Apex-Brasil as part of a wider programme called Brazilian Footwear.

Abicalçados project manager, Roberta Ramos, said after the exhibition that these immediate sales figures represent a 6% increase on the performance of Brazilian footwear companies at Micam in September 2016. She added that member companies that took part anticipate follow-up orders worth $33 million.

“It was a very good show for us,” Ms Ramos said. “You could see our exhibitors working non-stop throughout the four days.”
