Italy’s main leather and footwear machine manufacturers’ association, Assomac, has opened a ‘technology centre’ showcasing Italian machinery in Vietnam to “further the development of the local industry”.

Located in the headquarters of Lefaso, the country's leather industry association, in Ho Chi Minh City, it has been part funded by Italy’s Ministry of Economic Development (MiSE) and the Italian Trade Agency.

Assomac president Gabriella Marchioni Bocca attended the opening alongside the Vietnamese vice-minister of industry and trade Cao Quoc Hung, the Italian Ambassador in Vietnam, Cecilia Piccioni, and the president and vice-president of Lefaso, Nguyen Duc Thuan and Diep Thanh Kiet.
