New leather institute earmarked for Buenos Aires

08/05/2017
A leather institute is to be set up in the Argentinian district of Lanus, just south of Buenos Aires, to provide training and workshops for the large number of tanneries and leathergoods makers in the area.

As well as improving the skills within some of the estimated 200 leather businesses, the institute will become a centre for national statistics on leather and footwear.

Italian associations are joining local partners in the scheme to improve synergies between the countries, according to local reports.

Partners include leather association INTI Cueros, the Tanning Association of the Province of Buenos Aires (ACUBA), Lanus National University (UnLa), the University of Bologna, The Italian Institute of Foreign Trade (ICE) and Italian tanning machinery association Assomac.
