The 2017 class will see a total of 18 students selected to attend a three-week “learn by doing” footwear design programme at Pensole’s headquarters in Portland, US. It will take place from July 21 to August 18.
Applicants can apply in one of three categories: footwear, colour/material/finishing, and business. Registration opened on June 6 and prospective students can apply until June 25. The 18 students selected will be announced on July 5; they will receive free tuition and accommodation.
The curriculum will cover the product creation process, including design, material and marketing. The students will be split into teams of three, with each group challenged to create a product based on a specific brief. The winning team will receive a $12,000 prize and its design will be sold at selected Foot Locker stores.
“This is the fourth of a highly-successful series of programs in partnership with Foot Locker,” said Pensole founder D’Wayne Edward. “It is our joint mission to foster the next generation of emerging footwear design talent. Fuelling the Future of Footwear has become widely known for finding the best young designers around the globe.”
