Vans adds leather to latest collaboration
14/12/2016
It is the latest in a series of collaborations that Vans has launched to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Brooks is also marking a significant milestone in 2016, having reached its 150th birthday. It has been crafting leathergoods in the town of Smethwick since 1866.
The collection includes deluxe versions of the Vans Sk8-Hi sneaker and Classic Slip-On style, as well as luxury takes on staple Brooks accessories, including a Barbican canvas shoulder bag and a Swift Brooks leather saddle. Brooks was founded as a saddle maker.
All of the pieces feature elaborate laser etchings by designer Taka Hayashi, who has a long-standing relationship with Vans. He drew inspiration from the heritage of both brands, paying tribute to Brooks’ history of leather craftsmanship and marking Vans’ roots in California with the motifs for the etching designs.
