Vans to move headquarters

City authorities in Costa Mesa, California, have said they have an agreement in place with Vans that will see the footwear company relocate its headquarters to the town from nearby Cypress.

Costa Mesa’s mayor, Stephen Mensinger, said Vans would bring 500 employees to Costa Mesa but would look to increase this to 1,000. The move will be complete before the end of 2016.

Next year will also be the company’s fiftieth birthday. It started in a small shop in Anaheim, but its first own retail store was in Costa Mesa.
