Initiative “reflects heritage” of Cheaney
The joint managing director of men’s shoe brand Cheaney, William Church, has said the time was right to bring in another product category after the company launched an initiative offering customers the chance to customise a pair of its shoes.

Mr Church told leatherbiz.com that the ‘1 of 1’ initiative allows the company to “raise its game” and offer a premium service to its customers. He added that the idea of a custom-based service “plays strongly to the heritage and craftsmanship at the heart” of Cheaney.

The brand is “proud of the fact that we make what we sell” and this allows it to offer its customers such an opportunity. He described it as a step up from the “off the peg” options it typically offers. It also allows the company to employ skills that represent “the best of British shoe making”.

He says that “quality comes first” for Cheaney, with customers expecting “time, care and attention” to have gone in to their products if they are paying premium prices.

Mr Church paid tribute to the staff at the company’s factory in Desborough, UK. “Give people with the right set of skills the best raw materials and you can do great things,” he said.
