Cheaney’s new initiative makes 1.2 million shoe permutations possible

With the shoe style, leather type, the colour of the upper, sole, laces and lining and even the style of the eyelets to be decided, Cheaney has calculated that 1.2 million permutations are possible in the programme, which it has called ‘1 of 1’.
Five styles of shoe are available and once customers have had their feet measured in the Jermyn Street store and picked all of their preferred colour options, the information goes to the Cheaney factory in Desborough, near Northampton.
Construction will take between six and eight weeks and will involve more than 200 different hand operations. The finished shoes will be available for collection from Jermyn Street.
Cheaney has also made available special ‘1 of 1’ gift vouchers to enable people to give a pair of the shoes as a gift, while still allowing the person who will wear the shoes to make all the choices. The price is £695 per pair.
