Caleres is benefiting from strategy

24/11/2016
Footwear group Caleres, formerly Brown Shoe, reported revenue of $732.2 million in the third quarter of 2016, a 1% increase year-on-year.

Net income for the period was 2% higher at $34.7 million.

The Famous Footwear brand led the way with a 2.6% increase in total sales.

“Despite a somewhat choppy environment, our third-quarter performance – with improvement in sales, margins, earnings and cash from operations – further confirms that our portfolio strategy is working as intended and delivering shareholder value,” said Diane Sullivan, CEO of Caleres.

“By diversifying across platforms, brands, channels and products, we have been able to drive toward our long-term goal of consistent, profitable and sustainable growth while minimising our exposure to potential variability in the marketplace,” she added.
