Brazilian bodies prepare for new Footwear Week event

Brazilian footwear industry association Abicalçados is working with three partner organisations to put the finishing touches in place for a new shoe event, which will take place in Novo Hamburgo from October 17-20.

Abicalçados announced in August that it was working with technical institution IBTeC, consultancy body Sebrae and components and machinery representative body Assintecal to put the event together. They have decided to call it ‘A Semana do Calçado’, or Footwear Week.

The partner institutions have said their aim for the four-day event is to foment discussion, generate new ideas and showcase technical innovation to breathe new life into the Brazilian footwear sector.

Heitor Klein, the Abicalçados executive president, said at the time: “What we need is to take a leap forward, a big leap. All of our partner institutions have an obligation to do everything we can to drive technical advancement in the sector so that our companies can become more productive.”
