SATRA purchases footwear X-ray machine

The Ishida IX-GA-4075-S system can be used for non-destructive testing of a wide range of products. SATRA says products as wide 400 millimetres can be assessed, meaning it is capable of scanning boxed or unboxed products as large as boxed men’s safety footwear.
The X-Ray machine can penetrate through many types of packaging, including aluminium foil. This enable an operator to check that product boxes contain a matched pair that meet product specifications.
It will also allow SATRA technicians to analyse individual items of footwear to detect faults or bulk check large quantities of goods, using the machine’s automatic detection software.
The software can be programmed to ignore high-density items that form part of the product, such as metal shanks, ceramic toecaps, slide fasteners and other closures. It can quickly identify erroneous objects such as broken sewing needles, broken eyelets and footwear tacks. It can also detect if components are defective or incorrectly placed.
