Under Armour have teamed up with Jordan Spieth to launch a range of golf shoes. The American star, who narrowly missed out on a second consecutive Masters title at the weekend, joins basketball’s Stephen Curry and Tom Brady of the NFL on the list of sporting superstars affiliated with the US sportswear brand.

According to reports, Spieth had considerable input when it came to the design of the collection, his contribution ranging from comments on flexibility to feedback on overall comfort.

"You want to be able to just be out there in shoes and socks, free flowing, no restrictions - and I don't have any," Spieth said of the shoes, which come in three different styles: the UA Drive One, the UA Tempo Tour and the UA Tempo hybrid.

As well as the signature footwear range, Under Armour unveiled pioneering new golf pants. An elastic waistband is designed to facilitate a wide range of movements whilst there are rubber grips to stop a golf shirt from coming untucked on the course.

According to estimates from the National Golf Foundation, with 25 million golfers in the US alone, the golf industry is worth roughly $70 billion and global sales of golf equipment are estimated to be equivalent to $8.7 billion.

Under Armour published impressive results in the fourth quarter of 2015 as revenues climbed 31% to $1.17 billion. Footwear sales surged 95% year over year to $167 million. For the full year, footwear sales increased 57%, to $678 million.
