The “articulated integrated traction” technology was developed through research and athlete testing and, according to Nike, “decouples the medial heel and lateral forefoot area to help propel the athlete through the swing”.
The channels on the sole of the shoe give better balance and a shark-tooth TPU tread design gives continuous traction and replaces traditional spikes. This is paired with a full-length Lunarlon midsole for cushioning and a lightweight and breathable upper made from Nike’s Flyknit material. A collar helps prevent grass and other debris entering the shoe and a TPU skin is added to the upper’s edge to protect against dew.
Nike vice president of golf footwear, Gentry Humphrey, said that the company had “factored in foot performance through every aspect of the swing”. He added that designers had also considered the different surfaces and angles that golfers have to content with during a round.
