Under Armour poaches designer back from Nike

Sports brand Under Armour has announced the return of former vice president of creative footwear and accessories, Dave Dombrow, to the company just three months after he left to join Nike. Mr Dombrow will take up the newly-created role of chief design officer at the company, where he will be responsible for guiding the design process behind the brand’s entire collection of footwear, apparel and accessories.

Under Armour founding partner, Kip Fulks, paid tribute to Mr Dombrow’s “instrumental role in creating innovative and cutting-edge footwear” during his previous period at the company. He added that his “unique abilities to challenge the status quo and to anticipate the needs of the future athlete” would help Under Armour to obtain further success in the future.

During his time at the company between 2010 and 2015, he helped create the US SpeedForm Apollo, a shoe that featured a full-length 4D foam sock liner to conform to the foot's exact shape, and played a key role in the Curry One, the first signature shoe from basketball star Stephen Curry.
