Vietnam’s footwear results for May affected by rioting

25/06/2014
Vietnam produced 23.3 million pairs of footwear in May 2014, down by 2.4% compared to April 2014. Its export revenues from footwear fell by 6% month-on-month to around $800 million for May. The figures come from the Vietnam Leather Footwear and Handbag Association (Lefaso).

Lefaso attributed the fall in footwear production and export in May to riots that took place that month in southern and central parts of the country, causing companies, including footwear manufacturers, to halt production.
