Cole Haan teams up with former owner for sporty collection

Chicago-based footwear brand Cole Haan has extended its relationship with former owner Nike by using the sportswear brand's Lunarlon soles in a formal-look brogue with coloured laces.

The companies collaborated while Nike owned the group, and the partnership looks set to continue even though Nike sold Cole to private equity firm Apax Partners in November.

LunarGrand Long Wing Summer 2013 uses foam inspired by observing astronauts walking on the moon, providing a springy cushioning that is said to be 30% lighter than standard phylon foam.

The leather is sourced from a British tannery, Leeds-based Charles F Stead, a suede specialist that supplied a glossy umbranil leather and counts Salvatore Ferrgamo, Tods, Church’s and Clarks among its clients.

The range will debut at Cole Haan’s flagship New York store this week and will be available online from July.
