Covid claims prominent Paris designer
Designer Alber Elbaz, long-time creative director of Lanvin, has died. Mr Elbaz died in Paris on April 24 from covid-19. He was 59 years old.

Mr Elbaz was born in Morocco but grew up in Israel. He began his career in fashion in New York but had been based in Paris for 25 years.

He had spells at Guy Laroche and Saint Laurent before joining Lanvin in 2001. He became the brand’s creative director and worked there until 2015.

In the years that followed, Mr Elbaz worked on projects for a wide variety of fashion brands, including Tod’s. In 2019, with the backing of Richemont, he founded the AZ Factory label.

At AZ Factory he created the Pointy Sneaker (pictured), which is claimed "elongates the figure".
