LVMH looks to internal talent for new Balmain CEO
LVMH-owned Parisian fashion, footwear and leathergoods house Balmain has named Matteo Sgarbossa (pictured) chief executive, effective May 6, in place of Jean-Jacques Guéval, who left “to pursue other interests” earlier this spring.
Mr Sgarbossa has most recently served as international director and executive committee member at fellow French luxury brand Givenchy, which also forms part of the group’s portfolio.
Chaiman of the board at Balmain, Rachid Mohamed Rachid, praised the appointee’s knowledge of global luxury markets, describing him as the ideal candidate for partnering with creative director Olivier Rousteing.
