Fila readies new Fila+ label for lift-off

Seoul-headquartered sports brand Fila has named Palace Skateboards founder Lev Tanju creative director of new, contemporary sub-label Fila+.

Beginning this autumn, the line will present a range of athletic apparel, footwear and accessories which mesh the Italian-born company’s more classic silhouettes with “high-quality materials,” Fila said. At its core, Fila+ will deliver Mr Tanju’s updated take on the brand’s archival designs, reinterpreted through a modern lens.

Its creative lead, who will continue to oversee Palace’s artistic direction, has already reimagined the main brand’s traditional F-Box logo in the colours of Italy’s flag, il Tricolore, ahead of the collection’s debut later in 2024.

The announcement of Fila+ follows the news of Fila USA president, Todd Klein’s promotion to the newly created role of global brand president.

Reporting to parent company Fila Holdings, Mr Klein will take on the added responsibility of overall operational management, inclusive of product and marketing, as well as join Fila Luxembourg's board of directors. The objective is to unify Fila’s global business under the aegis of a cohesive brand voice, identity and direction.
