Valentino releases its first sustainability report
Italian luxury house Valentino has published its first sustainability report, covering the 12 months of 2022.
The document has been produced in line with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. It relays the results of 151 social and environmental audits, taking 90% of the footwear, fashion and leathergoods company’s Italy-based raw material and components suppliers, plus manufacturers, into account.
Valentino is targeting 100% traceability for key raw materials such as leather, wool and silk by the year 2030. Another goal is to train 80% of staff in the business’ sustainable strategy, which it calls Let the Beauty Prosper, by 2026. The group made a list of its first-tier suppliers, correct as of March, public earlier this year.
A joint statement from creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli and chief executive Jacopo Venturini read: “As a Maison de Couture, it is important for us to keep developing sustainably, while building resiliency and maintaining repeatable, ethical and responsible growth.
“We have a duty and an opportunity to keep raising the bar with constant improvement.”
