Adidas golf shoes get laceless look without BOA
Adidas golfing footwear line CodeChaos has teased what it is calling the first high-performance, spikeless golf shoe without laces in the brand’s history that does not rely on BOA fastening technology.
Its debut collection launched in winter 2020 to “redefine the golf dress code”, as adidas put it at the time. The model, CodeChaos Laceless, is part of the company’s autumn-winter range and will available for purchase from June 30, in both men’s and women’s sizes.
Built on a "gender-neutral" last, complete with full-length Boost cushioning, the shoes have filmed textile uppers, said to be stain-resistant and fully waterproof. Use of Primeknit material, first introduced in 2012, in strategically placed zones around the ankle and instep collar makes for easier on-off, supported by a pull tab at both front and back.
Engineered for a glove-like, adaptable fit, the style continues its use of heat-map-informed lug configurations in the form of a Twistgrip outsole, based on studies of weight distribution through the swing. An external, 3D heel counter delivers a degree of extra support to the heel, helped by an Insite-made insole for enhanced comfort around the heel bone, lateral and medial sides.
Global footwear director for adidas Golf, Masun Denison, commented that he had “no doubt that golfers will be pleasantly surprised by the performance they get” in the CodeChaos Laceless.
