Footwear growth fails to compensate adidas for Yeezy downturns

Sports group adidas has reported first-quarter revenues of a little over €5.25 billion, down by 1% year on year.

On reporting the results, the group made prominent mention of the ending of its partnership with Yeezy, with music artist Kanye West, which ran from 2015 until October 2022.

Adidas said that excluding Yeezy sales from its results, there would have been growth of 9% year on year. But it said a sales decline of 20% in North America would have been less stark, but still a decline of 5%, without Yeezy.

The group pointed out that its footwear category achieved growth of 1% during the quarter.
