Nike pairs up with Tiffany’s

High-end jeweller Tiffany & Co, headquartered in New York City, has previewed its collaboration with Beaverton, Oregon-based athletic footwear giant Nike under the tagline “A legendary pair”.

The shoe, called the Air Force 1 1837, is a largely black take on Nike’s Air Force 1 Low trainer style. Its only touches of colour come from a subtly co-branded Swoosh rendered in “Tiffany Blue” on the otherwise all-black suede upper, plus minimal silver accents that nod to Tiffany’s stature in the hard luxury sphere at both the tongue and heel. A simple shoebox in the same blue, with a white Swoosh on the top, is especially evocative of Tiffany's well-known packaging: a little blue box tied with a white satin ribbon.

Founded by Charles Lewis Tiffany in 1837, the house has been owned by Paris-based group LVMH since 2021.

Available in US sizes 3.5M to 18M, the shoes will be released via Nike’s dedicated Snkrs app and select global retail partners on March 7, reports said, as well as Tiffany’s own Tiffany Flagship Next Door on Manhattan’s East 57th Street and at the jeweller’s SoHo location in the same city. Their official retail price is expected to be $400.

A selection of Tiffany-made sterling silver accoutrements will additionally be sold on the jeweller’s US site in celebration of the collaboration, including shoehorns (“for a more subtle flex”), a toothbrush, extra shoelaces and a fresh take on the jeweller’s existing whistle accessory, all co-branded and ranging from between $250 and $475 in price. These laces, dyed “Tiffany Blue”, notably feature an ornamental deubré tag in classic Nike fashion, bearing both the Air Force 1 and Tiffany & Co logos.

Commentators noted how the thick, rounded and braided black shoelaces set to come with the shoes are more reminiscent of a Tiffany shopping bag handle than the flat laces that would typically come with Air Force 1s.

The tie-up marks Tiffany’s first venture into footwear.
