China’s first Nike Style concept store recycles shoes

The retail concept can be found inside the TX Huaihai Youth Energy Center (TX Huaihai), a curated mall located along Shanghai’s Huaihai Road shopping street that is targeted mainly at young, urban adults. According to local media, the store will break new ground domestically by remaining open until 11pm.
Notably, the location can recycle athletic shoes, China Daily said, in line with the company’s low-waste and low-carbon Move to Zero campaign and some Nike retail spaces in the US and Europe. Recycled materials have been used in its construction and the building houses Nike footwear, apparel and accessories collections. A second Chinese Nike Style concept store will open in Chengdu by the end of the year, a spokesperson told journalists.
According to the company’s most recent financial reporting, Nike’s Chinese business declined over the last quarter ended August 31, but revenues increased 4% year on year to reach $12.7 billion overall.
