Former Ferragamo lead relaunches ‘niche’ brand
Ex-Salvatore Ferragamo creative director Paul Andrew is set to relaunch his namesake premium footwear line this coming autumn, according to a social media post by the brand.
The post was tagged with the phrase “back into focus”.
Mr Andrew previously shuttered his own line after assuming the role of creative director of both men’s and women’s categories at Salvatore Ferragamo in early 2019.
This followed a period of leading the brand’s women’s collections and, prior to that, time spent as Ferragamo’s first-ever women’s footwear director upon joining the Florence-based firm in 2016.
He is also an alumnus of Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Narciso Rodriguez and Alexander McQueen, with whom the creative completed an apprenticeship following studies at what is now Reading College in the United Kingdom.
Discussing the relaunch of his namesake Paul Andrew brand with the Business of Fashion, the designer commented: “When I started my brand [in 2012], the landscape of luxury women’s footwear was quite different; there were so many emerging designers. There’s a niche in the market for independent players. [Now] the targets are based on my own ambitions, and I can scale the business as fast or slowly as I choose.”
Born in Berkshire, Mr Andrew currently resides in New York.
