Burberry CEO to leave for Ferragamo
London-based luxury brand Burberry has announced that its chief executive, Marco Gobbetti, will leave the company at the end of 2021.
Burberry explained that Mr Gobbetti had decided to take up “another opportunity” that will allow him to return to his native Italy and be closer to his family. Bloomberg has reported that the new opportunity he will take up will be as chief executive of Ferragamo.
Chairman of Burberry’s board of directors, Gerry Murphy, said on making the announcement that Marco Gobbetti had made “an immense contribution” to the company. “He has had a transformative impact and established a clearly-defined purpose and strategy, an outstanding team and strong brand momentum,” Mr Murphy said. He added that Burberry was determined to build on the foundations, the outgoing chief executive had established.
