Net-a-Porter maps own-brand styles with traceability tech

Luxury retailer Net-a-Porter and Internet of Things (IoT) platform Eon have together incorporated the latter’s “digital ID” technology in what is reported to be a small selection of shoe styles from the e-tailer’s own-brand Porte & Paire leather footwear range.

Eon’s custom, cloud enabled and scannable QR codes have been integrated into certain articles' design, intended to help inform circularity-minded consumers' shopping habits by providing data on aspects of each item’s life cycle as far back as material origin.

Recycling and repair following use have also been taken into account and information on this is also provided upon scanning participating products’ QR code via a mobile device, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Ultimately, the partners wish to build out this traceability technology across a higher percentage of the label’s footwear and future collections.
