South Korean media have reported that local brand K2 Safety, which describes itself as the “pride of Korea”, has joined with Colorado-based fit system specialists BOA Technology to release a safety shoe.

The new KG-101 boot is the first Korean safety shoe to feature dual BOA Fit systems. (The BOA Fit System is a patented technology “designed to enable consumers to dial in to fast, effortless, precision fit”, BOA says on its website.)

The boot’s two BOA dials (designed for ease of use when wearing safety gloves), one each for the ankle and the instep, allow the wearer to finely adjust the tightness of their fit down to the millimetre.

Both companies’ intention is to help those who must wear safety shoes for long periods to work in comfort.

Reportedly, approximately 26% of K2 Safety’s shoes currently on sale are equipped with BOA Technology.
