Ecco impresses with employees' inspiring stories
Footwear brand and tannery owner Ecco has been awarded a Gold Medal in the 'employee engagement' category at the New York Festivals TV & Film Award for portraying its employees in three employer branding films.

"Letting our employees tell their personal stories is both authentic and inspiring and will help position Ecco as much more than a great place to work," said Ecco's CEO, Steen Borgholm.

The three short films follow Caroline Wilson, the manager at Ecco's flagship store in London; Sirly, a quality controller in the Indonesian shoe factory; and Thomas Gøgsig, head of applied research.

Mr Gøgsig said he asks himself questions such as: "Can we skip thousands of years of tradition by not using water in our tanneries? Can we bring new properties to a very ancient material, such as leather? Can our products become 100% biodegradable?"

He added: "Our founder believed Ecco should live in the future. I'm trying to further his vision by bringing innovation to reality with a constant focus on the footprint we leave behind."

New York Festivals TV & Film Awards honours film productions from over 50 countries, and Ecco was shortlisted with nine other finalists.

Ecco's head of internal communication, Eva Kloch Norlyk, attended the event with the Danish film production company Leadit.
