Mr Beretta is a former chief executive of luxury brand Bottega Veneta and has also previously worked for Valentino and Ermenegildo Zegna.
He will report to group general manager, Umberto Macchi di Cellere.
Towards the end of 2018, amid falling sales revenues, Tod’s chief executive, Diego Della Valle, said the group’s strategy for generating growth in the immediate future would centre on supplying new product to its stores every two months, with “strong and proper marketing and communications plans” to support them.
Industry commentators in Italy have said the appointment of Carlo Alberto Beretta is part of the execution of this plan.
