Change of leadership for Alpargatas

07/11/2018
Casual footwear manufacturer Alpargatas announced in October that it had put in place a structured plan for succession after its chief executive Márcio Luiz Simões Utsch decided to step down from his role.

The plan came into effect immediately, with the company saying it will be finalised by the beginning of the first quarter of 2019.

The members of Alpargatas’ executive board have selected Roberto Funari as the company’s new CEO. He is expected to take over at the end of a transition period, during which Mr Utsch will remain in charge. Mr Funari will remain on the board of directors until he assumes the position of CEO.

The board of directors praised Mr Utsch for his performance during his 15 years as chief executive. He has been working for Alpargatas for a total of 21 years.
