Clarks CEO resigns amid conduct complaints

Footwear brand Clarks has announced that chief executive Mike Shearwood has resigned from his position with immediate effect following an investigation into complaints over his conduct.

In a statement, the brand said Mr Shearwood’s “conduct, conversations and expressions” had fallen short of the behaviour it expects from its employees “on a number of occasions”. 

The family-owned company did not give specific details about the nature of the complaints against him. 

The Clarks board has appointed senior independent director Stella David as interim CEO while it looks for a replacement for Mr Shearwood.
