Czech footwear association joins CEC

03/01/2018
The European footwear industry confederation CEC has formally approved the membership of the Czech Leather and Footwear Association (COKA). The decision was made at CEC’s General Assembly in Brussels in December.

The Czech Republic becomes CEC’s 12th full member, following on from the addition of Hungary in 2017.

“The CEC will work to reinforce the Czech footwear industry while continuing to strengthen its voice at European level through its growing membership,” CEC said in a statement.

“The CEC will support the Czech footwear industry through cooperation on initiatives and projects and by promoting advantageous policies on skills, industry, trade, and other relevant areas,” the statement added.

For his part, CEC president Cleto Sagripanti has said the addition of COKA is pleasing as footwear companies in Europe “share the same challenges and have much to gain from the European dimension”.

The other full members include footwear associations from Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
