Aquazzura dismisses case against Ivanka Trump

Italian luxury shoe brand Aquazzura and Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump, have agreed to dismiss all claims and counterclaims relating to a dispute between them.

Aquazzura filed a case against Ms Trump in June 2016, alleging that her fashion brand copied a number of its designs, most notably the “Wild Things” shoe.

It claimed Ms Trump’s Ms Trump’s “Hettie” shoe design is too similar to be a coincidence, calling it “virtually an exact copy”. It added that her shoe, which costs roughly one-sixth as much as Aquazzura’s, would confuse consumers and could take away some of the Italian brand’s customers.

All parties in the case, which also included Ms Trump's shoe label partner Marc Fisher Footwear, have now agreed to dismiss the case, although it is unclear whether a settlement has been reached. Both defendants have denied infringing Aquazzura’s rights.
