Ugg issues advice on spotting counterfeit products

“With nearly fifty percent of purchases this season being made online, counterfeiters have taken notice and have adjusted their approach in the hopes of misguiding consumers,” says Lisa Bereda, assistant general counsel for Deckers Brands.
She added that the brand feels it has a responsibility to “safeguard the loyalty of our community”. It committed to exposing counterfeiters and educating its customers.
Ugg urged its customers to follow a few basic steps when purchasing its products. These include being wary if the price seems to be too low, as this probably means they are fake. If buying in a shop, it suggests carefully checking the synthetic linings and stitching for quality. When buying online, customers should pay close attention to the website address, as well as looking out for spelling errors or suspicious contact information.
The brand has taken several steps to fight counterfeiting, including launching anti-counterfeit accounts on social media, and supporting law enforcement in identifying counterfeiters. This had led to the seizure of more than 2.2 million fake Ugg products.
