Rise in exports for Brazilian shoe components

24/11/2016
Brazilian manufacturers of materials and components for the leather and footwear industry have reported a major increase in export earnings this year.

Overall, members of the Assintecal trade association brought in $223.7 million in export revenues int he first ten months of this year. This figure represents an increase of 35% compared to the same period in 2015.

On releasing the figures, Assintecal pointed out that a special promotional programme it set up in 1998 (with export promotions agency Apex-Brasil), Footwear Components Brazil, is still in place and still boosting components manufacturers’ export performance.

Specifically, in October 2016 more than 40% of all Assintecal export revenues were contributed by companies that are involved in the special programme.

So far this year, Brazilian-made components have gone to footwear manufacturing clients in 77 countries, with China, Argentina, India, Germany and Mexico constituting the top five.
