Coach steps back into shoes
Leathergoods brand Coach is making another attempt to conquer the women’s shoe business and has turned to the outgoing CEO of sister company Stuart Weitzman for help.

Wayne Kulkin, who spent almost 5 years as Stuart Weitzman CEO, will act as a consultant to Coach on the project. Coach CEO, Victor Luis, said the company would not renew its women’s footwear license with long-time partner Jimlar Corporation.

Mr Luis described footwear as the “life-blood” of Mr Kulkin’s 25-year association with Stuart Weitzman, founder of the eponymous brand. He paid tribute to his knowledge of the footwear market and specifically of the women’s segment.

Coach is also hoping to take advantage of Mr Kulkin’s experience in marketing, supply chain and customer understanding. It will retain full control over sourcing, design and marketing for the range, which is due to launch in 2017.
