Team GB riders to have customised carbon-fibre shoes

20/06/2016
The cyclists competing for Great Britain at the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will wear custom-moulded shoes made entirely from carbon-fibre. The shoes are manufactured by Simmons Racing, a US company that specialises in custom cycling shoes and speed skates.

The shoes will be custom-moulded for each rider to prevent their feet from slipping around inside the shoes when they are competing. The shoe will be secured to the pedal using a Sidi buckle that is located on the sole of the shoe for better aerodynamics.

The sole will also have a small rubber grip on the heel to prevent riders from slipping whilst walking around the track centre. The shoes are available with either four-bolt or three-bolt soles making them suitable regardless of the type of pedals a rider uses.
