Converse uses Nike technology in updated offering
Footwear brand Converse will incorporate Hyperfuse technology from parent company Nike into its updated line of All Star Modern sneakers.

The range will maintain its classic appearance but the addition of the updated technology will make it more durable and give it better breathability. The shoe's upper will feature Nike Hyperfuse fabric, which uses three layers of material to offer durable shoes with good breathability. It incorporates a base layer made of synthetic material for support, a mesh in the middle layer for lightweight breathability and a top layer made from Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) for improved durability.

This circular knit upper, combined with a TPU-fused overlaid toe cap and neoprene split tongue and lining helps to reduce the weight of the shoe without negatively affecting how durable it is.

Bryan Cioffi, Converse vice president and creative director of footwear, insists that the fact that the brand can call on Nike’s technological developments is a bonus but that it will not use it simply because it can.

“The plan is to have it as a part of the tool kit, and we’ll use it where it best serves the product,” he said. “Wherever we could find the most innovative, best way to build a high quality product, that’s where we’ll use it.”
