English Leather Company to offer cordovan
UK-based leather trader English Leather Company will offer shell cordovan from the early part of 2016, after a testing phase.
Cordovan is made from horse skin and its tough and durable qualities make it well suited for footwear. Each horse provides two ‘shells’ which is, on average, enough to produce one pair of shoes.
Shoe brands such as Crockett & Jones offer Cordovan ranges sourced from US supplier Horween, while sportswear companies including Reebok also make use of the material.
