Paraboot parent company plans new production site

14/03/2014
Richard-Pontvert, the company behind the Paraboot footwear brand, has announced that it will close its existing factories in Izeaux and Tullin-Fures in Isère, near the French Alps, and build a new combined production facility.

According to French media, the new factory will involve an investment of almost EUR 8 million, with work on the site beginning next year and production starting in 2016. The company has said it believes selling the two existing sites will help it fund the project.

Proud of its made-in-France heritage, Richard-Pontvert insists on continuing to use high-end materials to make Paraboot shoes. Each shoe requires 150 different operations and two hours of work. It says 99% of the leather it uses is European, with three-quarters of the total coming from French tanneries. The main exception is the small amount of cordovan leather the company brings in from North America.

Current Paraboot collections include the Goodyear-welted, leather-soled Dandy range of men’s dress shoes and boots and a Casual Chic range with rubber soles, along with sports and outdoor footwear. For women, there are Casual Chic, outdoor and sports ranges.
