Italian tannery Conceria Stefania has spent four years developing Silverlining, a silver-treated leather for shoe linings which slows the development of odour-causing bacteria.

It was among the highlights at Premiere Vision Leather, according to organisers of the Paris-based show.

They also singled out new leathers from Portuguese tannery Carvalhos that are water resistant for up to two hours and ideal for sports and outdoor footwear.
