Anti-mould solutions provider to enter the US market

Micro-Fresh, a Leicester-based start-up that specialises in solutions to stop mould from forming on finished leather products during transit, has announced that it is opening two offices in the US.

Founded in 2009 to serve the footwear, leathergoods and leather furniture sectors, Micro-Fresh has  since expanded into other areas such as workwear, gym equipment and automotive interiors and has opened offices in China, India, Vietnam, Singapore, Vietnam, Portugal and Jamaica.

The company signed up to take part in a programme called 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB), launched by Goldman Sachs in 2010 to help small companies grow, and featured as a case study in a report the programme published in mid-November, Unlocking UK Productivity.

Micro-Fresh founder, Byron Dixon, said in the case study that he believes his company, which has grown at an average rate of 45% year on year, will have good opportunities for further growth in the US market. As a result, it is opening offices in two states, Georgia and Delaware. “It’s the first time we’ve been in the US,” Mr Dixon said. “There are some huge companies [there] and we hope at least one of them will be carrying the Micro-Fresh brand next year.”
