Bogotá show works well for Mexican shoe companies

07/08/2015
The current president of the  CICEG footwear industry association in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, Javier Placencia Reyes, has said his member companies’ participation in the Colombian International Footwear & Leather Show (IFLS) has helped them more than double exports to Colombia in the last two years.

In the first five months of 2015, Guanajuato companies exported more than 300,000 pairs of shoes to Colombia. The corresponding amount for the same months in 2013 was just over 130,000 pairs.

Mr Placencia pointed out that CICEG has now taking part in IFLS six years running, supported by Guanjuato’s overseas trade promotions agency, Cofoce. Fourteen CICEG footwear brands and four component suppliers that are also members of the association took part in the 2015 edition of the exhibition, which took place in Bogotá from July 28-31.
