Gandys flip flop brothers honoured as young leaders
16/07/2014
Orphaned by the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami while in Sri Lanka with their family, Rob and Paul Forkan have gone on to build a social enterprise that helps orphans around the globe.
A tenth of all their profits go to the Gandys Foundation, Gandys' registered charity which supports children in need of basic essentials such as shelter, nutrition, medication and education. They call this the ‘Orphans for Orphans’ mission which is currently funding children’s homes in India and Sri Lanka.
The Queen’s Young Leader’s Programme will search for 240 award winners aged 18 - 29 from all 53 countries of the Commonwealth who are to be celebrated, rewarded and supported for their achievements.
Paul said: “We really enjoy supporting inspirational young people and are delighted to be involved with this initiative – rewarding the hard work and huge impact today’s young leaders can have is very important to us.”
