After the success of the first fair held in April, footwear show Micam Shanghai returned this weekend with new exhibition spaces and with more than 80% of exhibitors hailing from Italy, Brazil, France, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and the UK.

Cleto Sagripanti, president of Italian footwear manufacturers association Assocalzaturifici, said: "Despite the problems and the complexities of the market, we will continue to focus on China as it represents a real business opportunity for today and the future.

“The first fair was a real starting point and now the challenge is to strengthen our offer as a forum for interaction between international exhibitors and Chinese buyers.”

In the first six months of 2013, Italian footwear exports to China reached 817,000 pairs, an increase of 15% compared to the same period in 2012, with a value of EUR 84.4 million - 23% higher than the same period last year.
