Celebrities put best foot forward for charity
Kate Moss, Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller are among celebrities who have donated their shoes to the Small Steps Project, to be auctioned in London in October.
Small Steps is a charity that supports children and communities living on rubbish dumps around the world, by supplying them with shoes and medicine and campaigning for their rights.
Miller donated black and silver Stefanel strappy heels. She said: "These shoes were given with love. I loved dancing the night away in them and hope they can bring as much joy to someone else."
Margherita Missoni, granddaughter of the founders of Missoni, teamed up with ethical fashion company the Muzungu Sisters to design a pair of shoes using upcycled fabrics, with 10% of the proceeds donated to the project. She also donated a pair of Missoni shoes.
"I believe it's essential to grasp every occasion to be useful to others,” she said. “My awareness is particularly directed towards problems related to infants and children and I hope that this small act may help even a single child to live better."
Other
celebrities who have donated shoes include Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel Weiss
and Jamie Oliver. The auction will take place on October 11 at the Jalouse club.
